Canam Canada Launches Its Ninth, Free, Online, Engineering Tool |

GEORGES DE BEAUCE, QC) – Canam Canada, the largest steel joist and construction product fabricator in Canada, continues to spearhead innovation by adding a new, interactive, engineering tool to its web site. This new joist spacing calculation tool, like the other interactive tools developed by Canam’s team of engineering experts, is intended to provide engineers with technical support so that they can save time at the design stage and accelerate the startup and execution of their projects. Engineers are invited to discover these free, innovative, interactive tools that are literally at their fingertips via the Internet.
Canam’s latest tool is designed to optimize the spacing between joists under snow pile-up conditions to ensure a constant steel deck thickness. “This calculation tool will help engineers save time at the design stage of their projects,” said Stéphane Roy, engineer, business development, at Canam. “Using a single thickness of steel deck is generally a more economical solution because it simplifies the job and makes it possible to fast-track projects.”
This interactive tool comes in addition to the two joist tools, two joist girder selection tools and four steel deck calculation tools already on the Canam Canada web site. The next tool, to be brought online in the coming months, is intended to calculate thicknesses of steel deck under snow pile-up conditions.
