Jacksonville plant earns OSHA Star status renewal

Canam’s Jacksonville, FL, plant has worked hard in 2008 to sustain an extremely strong focus on safety.

In May, after undergoing a rigorous audit by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Jacksonville plant received notification of the renewal of its OSHA Star status. Jacksonville first achieved Star status in 2003. According to OSHA, the Star designation is awarded to exemplary worksites with comprehensive and successful safety and health management systems. Companies in the Star program have achieved lost-workday injury and illness rates better than the national average for their respective industries.

One year with zero lost-time accidents
On July 6, plant employees at Jacksonville marked one year without any lost-time injuries and are now working toward achieving the same goal for a second consecutive year.

Plant employees celebrated their achievement at their annual 4th of July B.B.Q. As well, a day cruise on the St. John’s River was held on August 2, 2008 in recognition of this impressive safety milestone.

Congratulations to human resources and safety manager Donna Maxwell, the members of the Safety Committee and all employees for their hard work and safe practices!
