| Description: |
A permanent full-time position for a Fitter is currently available at the Canam U.S. plant in Point of Rocks, Maryland. Primary duties involve fitting and assembling structural framework and materials such as angle irons, I-beams and other steel components in compliance with the corporate mission and values as well as departmental financial objectives.
Essential Fuctions:
- Cut and cope neatly and accurately
- Straighten WR sections with a torch flame
- Lay out positions, align and fit together fabricated structural components according to blueprint and layout specifications.
- Produce a product that meets recognized standards and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures
Physical Demands:
The ability to stand continuously with occasional walking and sitting is essential. The nature of this position requires the incumbent to perform a wide range of physical movements ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects (60-100 lb.), to climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling various materials. Repetitive finger motions are also required. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. |

| Requirements: |
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic layout skills
- Pass the SMAW 2G stick weld test (8 hours)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, verbal, or diagram form.
- Successfully complete a basic language and math skills assessment.
