Position: Engineering Manager

Description:
The Engineering Manager supervises all activities at the Engineering Department which oversees all major structural steel projects undertaken by Canam Group. The incumbent’s main responsibilities are as follows:
  • Assign duties to department employees according to their area of specialty in order to meet prescribed deadlines.
  • Train and provide technical support to department employees.
  • Conduct preliminary analyses to confirm project viability or enhance service offers.
  • Establish standards and control the quality of the work performed by department employees.
  • Assist the estimation and sales teams during the quotation process.
  • Estimate and follow-up on project engineering costs.
  • Evaluate the performance of department employees.
  • Adjust the number of department employees according to the workload.

Requirements:
  • University degree in civil engineering and licensed to practice in Canada or the U.S.
  • Bilingual (verbal and written)
  • Practical knowledge of CICA and AISC standards
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to vulgarize complex construction techniques
  • Ability to manage personnel
  • 10 years of relevant experience in the steel construction sector
  • Autonomous and available to travel frequently across North America
