Position: Production Supervisor

Description:
Directs, supervises and coordinates production in the assigned area. Through the assignment of duties and personal skills, ensures the timely and efficient fulfillment of production area responsibilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Plans, supervises, directs and engages in daily production operations and anticipates production problems (i.e. material shortages, equipment malfunctions, rush orders, etc.) to ensure that lost time is minimized and that production and quality objectives are achieved.
  • Utilizes skills, work hours, materials and work flow to achieve production and quality objectives; exchanges timely information with other supervisors on interdepartmental product flow and workforce needs.
  • Instructs, trains, guides, motivates and assists employees to ensure that safety, quality and production objectives are achieved.
  • Participates in the selection/interview process to fill worker positions, and conducts employee performance appraisals; recommends promotions, transfers and work assignments.
  • Provides information to assist others in their efforts to bring about cost reductions, simplify work or improve methods or equipment.
  • Is responsible for the implementation of all safety policies and procedures, including housekeeping practices and employee awareness of hazardous conditions; responds to employee injuries by administering first aid, issuing medical authorization forms, investigating accident causes and recommending ways to prevent the recurrence of accidents.
  • Keeps employees informed of company rules and regulations and of production and quality expectations; issues warnings and takes other approved disciplinary measures when necessary; encourages employee communication and endorses an open-door policy.
  • Maintains professionalism and keeps abreast of new developments through publications, vendors and in-house management training.
  • Authorizes overtime and controls costs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Must be a self-starter, motivated and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of D1.5 Bridge Code, blueprint reading, and FCAW, SMAW, and SAW welding processes would be a plus.
