Customized Painting and Metallizing
To better meet the needs of its customers, Canam Group also offers customized painting and metallizing. It’s painting facility located in Quebec City, which has a total surface area of 36,000 sq. ft. (3,345 m2), specializes in the surface preparation, metallizing and painting of large-scale structural steel and metal components and offers large storage capacity.

Ultramodern Equipment
The plant features a grit blasting shop that can accommodate multiple large-scale components at a time:
- Surface area of 2,484 sq. ft. (231 m2); 22 ft. (6.7 m) high
- Entry via two 22 ft. x 20 ft. (6.7 m x 6.1 m) doors
- Four manual grit blasting booths for treating components of various sizes
- Floor recovery system that allows for uninterrupted operation without loss of abrasive
An automated grit blasting unit, a Wheelabrator Roller Conveyor, completes the array of surface preparation equipment:
- 5.3 ft. x 18 ft. (1.6 m x 5.5 m) opening
- 275-ft. (84 m) conveyor

Sophisticated Painting Systems
The paint shop, which occupies 16,000 sq. ft. (1,487 m2) is equipped to receive components of all sizes that require the application of sophisticated protective coatings such as zinc, epoxy, urethane and top quality multi-coat systems. Every effort is made to obtain a high quality and attractive finish that meets customer expectations. The paint shop is certified to the Sophisticated Paint Endorsement (SPE) Program of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
Metallizing
The paint shop includes a separate chamber that is used exclusively for metallizing steel components, a process that utilizes an electric arc spray gun to apply molten zinc onto the surface to be treated.
100-ton Indoor/Outdoor Lift Capacity
Various lifting machinery with a capacity of up to 100 tons (200,000 lb.) are used to transport components during the various stages of the treatment process.

The rail access allows for the reception and shipment of oversized components across Canada and the United States, providing a major competitive advantage | |
