Canam Group reviewed its procedure for handling used batteries, from AA format to laptop and even larger batteries. Each of its offices and plants in North America has (or will soon have) a collection point where employees are (or will soon be) invited to dispose of the used batteries generated at work. |

| Over $2,000 for the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec |
In 2005, Canam and Canam Group employees in Boucherville raised $1,050 for the Club des petits déjeuners du Québec, an organization that runs a school breakfast program for disadvantaged children. To reward this fundraising effort and contribute to a good cause, management decided to give a matching donation. A grand total of $2,100 was therefore handed over to this organization.
Since its inception in 1994, the Club des petits déjeuners strives to give every child a better start in school through a nutritious breakfast served in a stimulating atmosphere. Thanks to the support of its partners and thousands of citizens, this organization welcomes more than 14,250 children each morning in 193 Quebec schools. |

Canam Group employees responded in large numbers to the invitation to participate in the blood donor clinic hosted by the Human Resources Department, in collaboration with Héma-Quebec, on June 14. At the end of the day, blood was collected from 26 donors. |

Denise Fournier, Structural Steel Detailer for Technyx, walked 60 kilometers alongside thousands of people on August 26 to 28 in Montreal to support the Jewish General Hospital of Montreal in the areas of breast cancer research, education, services and care. Denise collected to fight breast cancer. |

| Jeans, bottle return and non-perishable food items for good causes |
| A number of initiatives were launched at the Canam Moncton office to raise money for various charities. The Wear Jeans for a Week and bottle return events organized by the social committee plus Canam’s matching contribution brought in a total of $400. Turkeys were purchased and donated to the Sue Stultz Turkey Drive, an organization that distributes turkeys to needy families at Christmas. In December, a drive to collect non-perishable food items for area food banks was organized by Moncton employee Rebecca McFarlane. |

Employees from the Moncton office donated $430 to Moncton Headstart Inc., an organization that distributes Christmas presents and non-perishable food items to needy families. In addition to this amount, raised through different activities organized by the social committee, 214 items were given to Moncton foodbanks by employees. |

 |  | Recovering ring-pull tabs from aluminum cans for MIRA
For the past two and a half years, Patricia Dumas, Joist Detailer at St. Gédéon, has been collecting ring-pull tabs from aluminum cans for the MIRA Foundation. MIRA is an organization committed to increasing the autonomy of handicapped people and facilitating their social integration by providing them with guide dogs. MIRA recovers these aluminum tabs in order to resell them by the pound and uses the money to help cover the cost of training guide dogs. |

 |  | Two St. Gédéon employees participate in Relay for Life
Two St. Gédéon employees, André Paradis (Drafter for Hambro) and Léonce Lachance (B/M Clerk), participated in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life held last June. Relay for Life is a fundraising event built upon a team concept. Each team is expected to have at least one member on the track—walking, jogging or strolling—at all times during the 12-hour relay. The relay starts at dusk and ends the next morning. André and Léonce were on a team that raised over $4,800 for this great cause. |

As part of the 18th Opération Enfant Soleil telethon, which occurred at the beginning of June 2005, employees from St. Gédéon were invited to buy a button in support of this non-profit organization, which raises money for Quebec’s sick children through pediatric hospitals and other organizations. A total of 325 suns were sold, all glued to a wall in the reception area, and $730 was given to Opération Enfant Soleil. |

 |  | Beauce employees take part in local regatta
Two teams—one composed of Canam employees from St. Gédéon and the other of Canam Group employees from St. Georges—took part in the 2nd annual regatta held in mid-July on the Chaudière River in the heart of St. Georges. The goal was to raise funds for the project spearheaded by the Rendez-vous à la Rivière Corporation. Five-member crews had one hour to build a boat, a mast and an oar with the materials supplied by the organizers of this event. |

Five employees from Boucherville and St. Gédéon put a price on their heads and had their heads shaved on June 12th in order to collect money for Leucan, which provides support to children suffering from cancer and to their families. So thanks to Dimitri Couture (HR Manager, Canam Group), Jean Lamontagne (Estimator, Hambro), Marie-Hélène Bolduc (Communications Advisor, Canam Group), Éric Giroux (Checker, Steel Deck, Canam) and Éric Champagne (Evening Foreperson, Canam), a cheque for $4,400 was presented to Leucan. |

The first Tree Day held at all Quebec business locations in May 2005 was an unqualified success! This adopt-a-tree event, which saw 1,220 trees find a home, gave employees the opportunity to do something concrete to improve the quality of their environment. |

On National Denim Day, held at all Quebec business locations on May 10, 2005, almost $1,400 was collected for the CURE Foundation. CURE provides funding for basic and clinical for breast cancer research. Hundreds of employees wore jeans in exchange for a suggested donation of $5. |

 |  | The motorcycle club raises $4,430 to benefit the AIS
The Chevaliers de l'acier motorcycle club, made up of motorcycle enthusiasts from Canam and Canam Group, held their second annual fundraising event on Saturday, August 13, in St. Georges. The club handed a cheque for $4,430 to the Fondation de l'Association pour l'intégration sociale de la Région Beauce-Sartigan (AIS), not just surpassing the target they set for themselves, but also doubling the amount they raised in 2004. |

 |  | Over $98,000 amassed for Centraide in Quebec
The Centraide campaign held throughout October at the various Quebec workplaces of Canam Group and its business units raised $98,098 for this non-profit organization committed to helping people affected by poverty in all its forms (economic, cultural and social). Thanks to employees' generosity, the collective fundraising goal of $74,000 was largely exceeded.
The tidy sum of $98,098 includes the donations that poured in from employees in the form of cash or payroll deductions and the amounts generated by fundraising activities. It also includes Canam Group's matching contribution. Last year, a total of nearly $72,000 was raised for this worthy cause.
Centraide’s Coup de cœur prize, specific to the Beauce-Etchemins division, went to Canam Group for the campaign conducted in its Beauce and Quebec City business locations. This prize is given annually to a company that stands out for the organization of its Centraide fundraising efforts. |

The Point of Rocks plant generously donated labor and two 10-ton components for the construction of the bridge that will provide access to the C&O Canal Park in Point of Rocks. The bridge, which was dedicated and officially opened May 7, 2005, will give boaters and hikers access to the 180-mile towpath. Joe Shillingburg, Production Supervisor, was one of the Point of Rocks employees to be thanked for working on the C&O Canal Park bridge. |

Three Point of Rocks employees ― Nelson Proulx (Structural), Denise Smoot (Human Resources) and Éric Lévesque (Structural) ― and some of their family members recently accumulated $790 for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, which provides mentors to youngsters in disadvantaged home situations. The company added $400 to this donation, for a total contribution of nearly $1,200. |

| Employees at Sunnyside participated in their annual Adopt a Foster Child program, coordinating with the Child Protection Services of Washington to help foster kids have a merrier Christmas. In 2005, Sunnyside employees adopted 10 kids and provided them with gifts and gift certificates. |

| Sunnyside supplies steel for wagon donated to youth organization |
| The Canam plant in Sunnyside collaborated on an unusual project—a giant "kids" wagon—intended for a local youth organization. The wagon was donated to Sunnyside’s Promise (a local chapter of the national youth organization called America’s Promise), which provides youth with programs, education and activities to place caring adults in their lives as parents, mentors, tutors and coaches. To raise funds, Sunnyside’s Promise participates in many regional parades and events. It was looking for a way to use the national organization’s symbol, a child’s red wagon, to attract attention and contributions. Canam generously supplied the steel used to fabricate the wagon, which was then put together and painted by local high school students and community members. |

| Holiday spirit fills Washington! |
Canam Washington plant employees continued their tradition of adopting a needy family over the holiday period through the Loving Hearts organization. Justine Hinson (Production) organized this event, which included a raffle that raised $300. Clothing, food and toys were provided to a single mother and her three boys to help bring them joy at Christmas.
In addition to organizing a food drive, Scarlett Borgmann (Engineering) coordinated the Angel Tree event, whereby each employee picks the name of a needy child and buys him or her a Christmas gift. |

Joy Scheider, Traffic Assistant, and her husband Jerry Schneider, Material Handler, both participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life held June 17 and 18, 2005 at Hood Park in Cuba, Missouri. This event meant a lot to Joy, whose nephew Dustin Callahan, diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, passed away a year ago at the age of 12. He had been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. |

Technyx’s Kolkata offices donated 15 computers to Child Relief and You (CRY), a non-governmental organization in India that has the mission to help the less fortunate in West Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand. CRY reaches out to underprivileged children in India, making a difference in many areas: hospitals, schools, the drinking water supply, vaccines, etc. |
