Marc Dutil
President and Chief Operating Officer of Canam Group Inc.

Marc Dutil was born on December 25, 1964, in St. Georges, Quebec. He graduated from Boston College with a degree in management and computer science in 1987, and then founded a software firm specialized in the design of electronic exchange systems.

Mr. Dutil joined The Canam Manac Group in 1989, and between 1989 and 1995 held various positions within the Canam Steel Works plant in St. Gédéon de Beauce, Quebec, while pursuing his studies at various Canadian and American universities.

Mr. Dutil founded Steel Plus Network® in 1995 and served as its first General Manager. In 1999, he became President of Steel Plus Network.

In 2001, Mr. Dutil was appointed Vice President of The Canam Manac Group Inc. One year later, he was named Executive Vice President of the company and elected to its Board of Directors. In 2003, he was named President and Chief Operating Officer of the company.

In 1999, the magazine Revue Commerce listed Mr. Dutil among the 50 most-admired young personalities in Quebec because of their success in the industrial, artistic or scientific fields. In 2000, he was presented with the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Gala de l'entreprise beauceronne. In 2000, Mr. Dutil was named Personality of the Month by Revue Commerce.

Mr. Dutil spent 10 years on the Board of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction before serving as its Chair from 2001 to 2003. He is a member of both the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) and the Cercle des Présidents du Québec. He is the Founding President and Chair of the Finance Committee of the École d’Entrepreneurship de Beauce (ÉEB), an institution of higher education dedicated to the training and development of future business leaders. The ÉEB, which relies entirely on the expertise of entrepreneurs, will welcome its first crop of students in the fall of 2010.

Mr. Dutil has chaired the Boards of many not-for-profit organizations involved with economic development, social integration and local food banks. He has presided over numerous community fundraisers and is frequently invited to speak at various functions across Canada and abroad.

Marc Dutil and Catherine Larochelle have been married since 1989 and have five children.
