The Kolkata office closed on October 28 for Diwali and Kali Puja
The Technyx office in Kolkata, India, will be closed on October 28, 2008, to celebrate Diwali and Kali Puja. Business will resume as normal on Wednesday, October 29.
Diwali, or Deepavali, is a major Indian festival celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs across the globe. Divali is also known as the Festival of Lights because celebrations focus on lights and lamps as well as fireworks. The lighting of lights and lamps signifies the uplifting of darkness and the victory of good over evil.
On the Kali Puja, which is performed on the night of Kartik Amavasya during Diwali, Bengalis invoke the goddess Kali to ask for her help to destroy evil - both in the outside world and within themselves - as well as for her blessings for peace, health and prosperity and protection from drought, war and illness.
