Canam Engineering Head Speaks at SJI Joist/Deck Design Seminar

Tim Holtermann, division engineering manager, Canam U.S., and Perry S. Green, technical director, Steel Joist Institute, co-presented a lecture as part of an industry seminar that took place last November in Jacksonville, FL. The seminar, entitled Design Recommendations and Helpful Hints, was presented in the scope of the SJI-SDI (Steel Joist Institute and Steel Deck Institute) Joint Educational Program.

The lecture covered several topics, including spandrel systems, special considerations, misconceptions, and the dos and don'ts of joist and deck design. Messrs Holtermann and Green also advised the attending engineers and architects on ideal projects for joist design.
