Stade multifonctionnel Terrebonne project

Canam holds an open house in St. Gédéon for its project partners

Canam Canada recently organized a special open house visit for the firms it is partnering with on the Stade multifonctionnel Terrebonne project, a multi-sport stadium that is presently being built in Terrebonne, Quebec. The event consisted of a meeting and tour of the St. Gédéon de Beauce plant. The new stadium, which is the latest addition to a string of sports facilities owned by Complexes Sportifs Terrebonne, will house an indoor soccer field. Canam obtained a contract to fabricate a number of 220-ft. (66.8 m) long-span joists in the scope of this project.

Invitees included steel fabricator Acier Robel Inc., engineering firms Dessau Inc. and CLA Experts-Conseils Inc., the Poirier Fontaine Architectes architectural firm, and the owner of the building, Complexes Sportifs Terrebonne. Canam employees taking part in the project also attended the event. Guests greatly appreciated the presence of a number of senior Canam Group management team members at the open house.

The technical drawings for the Terrebonne multi-sport stadium were detailed by Technyx.

The Terrebonne multi-sport stadium is the second soccer venue for which Canam has supplied long-span joists. In 2007, Canam fabricated roof components for the Alphonse-Desjardins Sports Complex in Trois-Rivières. “Long-span joists are a very attractive solution for a multi-sport or soccer facility,” explained Mr. Nadeau, vice president, Canam Canada. “Canam offers to share its expertise with professionals and customers right from the design phase of the project in order to identify a solution that meets the building owner’s needs in terms of budget and deadlines,” added Mr. Nadeau.

Guests enjoyed the welcome they received as well as the opportunity to see Canam employees fabricating joists destined for the new stadium. “In addition to further strengthening ties between Canam and Acier Robel, this visit allowed us to demonstrate our mutual expertise for this type of complex project to the other guests that were present,” mentioned Jean Hould, president, Acier Robel Inc.

Canam Canada also supplied joists and joist girders for the construction of an arena and an athletic facility owned by Complexes Sportifs Terrebonne.
