Canam Group honors its pioneers
As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, Canam Group paid tribute to its founders and pioneers on Thursday, August 19. A group of Canam retirees who joined the company in 1961, along with other invited guests, were welcomed back to the St. Gédéon plant. The members of the management team hosting this event were: Marcel Dutil, chairman of the board and CEO of Canam Group; Marc Dutil, president and chief operating officer of Canam Group; Mario Bernard, president of Canam and Structal-Bridges; Jean-Réal Poirier, vice president of operations, Quebec Region; and André Clermont, operations manager at the St. Gédéon plant.
After touring the plant and posing for an official photo, the invited guests attended the unveiling of a photograph of the company founders–Gilberte Lacroix-Dutil, Roger Dutil and Albert Goldberg–taken in 1985 during an event that marked the 25th anniversary of the founding of Canam in August 1960. It will hang in the plant’s reception area.

The first group of pioneering employees to have achieved 25 years of service in 1986, while Canam was celebrating its 25th anniversary, posed for this official photo on August 19, 2010. The members of the group were placed in exactly the same order as they appeared on the official photo taken in 1986. Seated are: (from left) Armand Nadeau, Normand Nadeau, Roger Breton, Mario Marini and André Doyon. Standing behind them are: Roger Nadeau, Clément Quirion, Jean-Louis Nadeau, Gaétan Cliche and Ange-Émile Lachance.
