Mississauga marks Canam’s 50th anniversary

It was Mississauga’s turn on June 18 and 19 to celebrate Canam’s 50th anniversary. Friday, June 18, was reserved for customers, who were invited to tour the plant in the morning and participate in a friendly game of golf in the afternoon. Mother Nature smiled on the 92 golfers who showed up at the Royal Ontario Golf Club located in Hornby, some 20 km west of Mississauga. Saturday, June 19, was dedicated to employees, their families and retirees. About 160 people gathered on the plant grounds for a day of family-friendly activities.

With the magnificent weather, it was a memorable day on the course for everyone.

More than 100 customers, suppliers and sales representatives joined the golf tournament held as part of the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Sharon Lau-Wiffin, co-owner of Ed Lau Ironworks Ltd., who played in a threesome with her father Albert Lau and her husband Tom Wiffin, recorded the longest drive of the day at the 4th hole. Sharon is pictured here with Canam Group president and chief operating officer Marc Dutil.
